Bihar Election 2025

Journalist Rohit Jha travels to Dakshin Sagar Sultanpur in Siwan district to capture the real pulse of Bihar’s rural politics ahead of the 2025 state elections. Sitting amidst the people, Rohit engages in a candid conversation with the village head, Mukhiya Manmohan Mishra, who shares his blunt and thought-provoking views on migration, unemployment, corruption, and the changing political mood in Bihar.

Mishra admits that while traditional parties like the JD(U), BJP, and RJD have governed Bihar for years, the state still struggles with basic issues lack of education, poor infrastructure, and mass migration of youth to other states and even abroad. He criticizes the political class for losing its moral character, saying leaders today chase power, not public welfare.

Interestingly, Mishra acknowledges the growing influence of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj movement, which he believes has connected deeply with ordinary citizens through its focus on education, youth empowerment, and anti-corruption values. He observes that Kishor’s emphasis on ending migration and developing Bihar from the grassroots has made many villagers hopeful for real change.
