Muzaffarpur Bihar Kanti Thermal Power Plant Reality: No Jobs, No Electricity, Only Pollution
This ground report exposes the harsh reality of a thermal power plant in Bihar, where development promises have turned into a nightmare for villagers. Despite assurances of local employment and 24-hour electricity, villagers are still jobless as laborers from other states are hired instead. Ironically, the villages surrounding the power plant receive electricity for barely a few hours a day.
The worst impact has been on health and environment. Toxic emissions and ash from the plant are causing cancer, lung infections, heart diseases, skin and eye problems among villagers. Pollution has destroyed agriculture, with lychee, paddy, and vegetable crops declining sharply due to contaminated soil and air.
Villagers accuse NTPC management and government officials of negligence and corruption, claiming environmental norms are openly violated. This report highlights the real cost of false development human lives, health, and livelihood. Bihar’s villages want answers, not excuses.
